The Collaborative Anesthesia and Obstetric Care of the High Risk Delivery

Statement of Need

This one day course will focus on the obstetric and anesthetic considerations and preparations for the management of high-risk parturients.

Target Audience

This activity is designed to increase the knowledge of practicing anesthesiologists, obstetricians, nurse anesthetists, residents and students.

Learning Objectives

By the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify parturients with cardiac disease, obtain appropriate evaluative studies and consults, and develop appropriate delivery plans.
  • Implement airway algorithms.
  • Identify parturients at risk for coagulapathy, and obtain appropriate evaluative studies and consults.
  • Manage a morbidly obese parturient during labor and delivery.
  • Manage a maternal code.
