Conference Overview
Statement of Need
Infants and young children constitute a high risk population for undergoing anesthesia and surgery due to unique anatomic, physiologic and developmental differences compared to older, larger patients. A team approach to pediatric anesthesia requires that all team members function with up to date information on caring for this population. This conference will provide the anesthesia team with current information on a variety of common pediatric anesthetic problems. |
Target Audience
This activity is designed to educate or refresh the knowledge of practicing Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Residents in Anesthesiology, Student Nurse Anesthetists, Pediatricians and Pediatric Nurses.
Learning Objectives
By the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss newly published data impacting the practice of pediatric anesthesia.
- Identify infants and children at risk of suffering significant complications under anesthesia.
- Review anesthetic techniques and practices designed to avoid complications in this high risk population.
