Duke’s New Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education

We would like to congratulate Dr. Catherine Kuhn, who was recently appointed as the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education, Director of Graduate Medical Education, and Designated Institutional Official for the ACGME. Dr. Kuhn has served the department as our Residency Program Director since 1994 and, additionally, as Vice Chair of Education since 2007.

We are proud that the leadership of Duke University Health System and the School of Medicine have recognized Dr. Kuhn’s talents and have selected her for this responsibility. In her new role, Dr. Kuhn will translate the skills she has acquired in our department to the institution, with oversight and responsibility for over 80 accredited training programs and dozens of non-accredited programs, which comprise nearly 1000 trainees.

Her responsibilities will include: maintenance of the institution’s excellent accreditation status in a new era of accreditation, the assurance of high-quality effective education for our residents and fellows, career development of our program directors and coordinators, budgetary responsibility for the GME enterprise, and promotion of innovation and collaboration in our education processes.

Again, congratulations to Dr. Kuhn and we wish her all the best in her new role!
