Trent Semans Center for Health Education

In January 2013, the HSPSC moved into the newly constructed Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans Center for Health Education. Located in the heart of DUMC’s campus, the state-of-the-art facility features four simulation theaters, a fully integrated MetiTM audiovisual capture and playback system, and three multimedia classrooms.

Each simulation suite consists of a main simulation area and a separate control room. Each suite is equipped with a 60-inch multi-media smartboard, four cameras, and full stock of expendable medical supplies and equipment. Designed for maximum flexibility, the wall between simulation suites two and three can be collapsed to combine the rooms into one large simulation space.

Two of the three simulation suites are currently configured as operating rooms with fully functional anesthesia machines and a stock of durable and expendable medical supplies. The third simulation theater is configured as an ICU.

The three classrooms each equipped with smartboards capable of displaying a variety of multi-media sources as well as to serve as a white board. Also designed for maximum versatility, the chairs, tables, and other furniture can be easily moved, stacked and folded to create optimal learning spaces specific to each class. Directions to the SimLab.
