Background and Research Interests

Gennie graduated from the University of North Carolina Asheville with a BS in Health and Wellness and a minor in Neuroscience. During her undergraduate experience, Gennie participated in multiple research opportunities which lead to several presentations and publications. She worked in a molecular microbiology lab where she contributed to a project knocking down expression of essential genes in Staphylococcus Aureus using CRISPR interference. Additionally, she worked with a professor researching pedagogy of evolution and genetics. Gennie joined the Donnelly lab to pursue an interest in cancer and pain research and her goal for the future is to apply to MSTP programs
