We are pleased to announce that Padma Gulur, MD, has been promoted to executive vice chair for performance and operations within Duke Anesthesiology, effective July 1. Dr. Sol Aronson will continue in his role as executive vice chair, focused on strategy and finance. His exemplary leadership in these areas over many years has significantly improved the financial position of the department and produced many exciting strategic initiatives such as the POET and PASS programs. The decision to split the tasks between two highly-valued leaders is based on the dramatic growth that the department has experienced over the last three years in areas such as preoperative optimization, pain, critical care, and Duke Raleigh.
In her new role, Dr. Gulur will be responsible for driving program development in key areas including multidisciplinary initiatives within the Duke University Health System to deliver the highest quality of care to our patients. She will continue to work with our division chiefs to align divisional and departmental goals and performance.
“It’s a real honor and a privilege to have this opportunity to help grow and ensure our department’s continued success,” says Dr. Gulur, who is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, and specializes in advanced interventional pain management.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Gulur on her new position within our department.
