We are pleased to announce that Angie Cain officially joined Duke Anesthesiology on September 10 as the administrative manager of human resources and operations, bringing 15 years of experience to her new role in the department. This position was previously held by Ilene Farkas, who transitioned to a new position at Duke in August.
Cain has spent most of her professional career here at Duke. She first arrived to the institution in 2004 as a staff assistant for Duke Anesthesiology and the Duke Clinical Research Institute. In 2006, she became program coordinator for the Division of Neurology where she managed operations of the Movement Disorders Program. And, for the past 11 years, she has served the Duke Department of Medicine (the largest clinical department in the School of Medicine) in HR, most recently as the director of faculty affairs. In that capacity, she led and directed staff and processes in faculty appointments, credentialing, onboarding, promotion, and offboarding – working with 1,100 faculty across 13 divisions and partnering with institutional offices to continually drive improved quality and processes.
In her new role within Duke Anesthesiology, Cain will act as a strategic partner with the chief administrator and the departmental leadership team to provide overall operational management for the department. This includes the direction and supervision of all HR functional areas, as well as the faculty appointment and credentialing process, with a focus on process improvement and innovation.
Cain is originally from Florida. She moved to Durham in 2004 where she currently resides with her husband and son. Please join us in welcoming her to Duke Anesthesiology.
