Duke Anesthesiology’s Residency Class of 2019 gathered with their colleagues and families on June 8 at Bay 7 in Durham’s American Tobacco Historic District to celebrate their graduation from the nationally-acclaimed Duke Anesthesiology Residency Program.
Chairman Joseph Mathew delivered opening remarks and was joined on stage by Dr. Annemarie Thompson, residency program director, Drs. Brian Colin and Ankeet Udani, assistant residency program directors, and the 13 graduates. Two awards were announced during the ceremony; the Outstanding Graduate Award was presented to Dr. Jon Andrews, and Dr. Stuart Grant received the Robert Sladen Teacher of the Year Award.
Additionally, the department recognized resident leadership positions by presenting them with certificates:
- Chief Residents: Sarah Cotter and Will Fox
- Education Chiefs: Anne Castro and Julien Cobert
- ACES Chiefs: Michael Devinney and Stephen Ellison
