Duke Anesthesiology Ranks Among Top Three in NIH Funding

The annual National Institutes of Health's (NIH) rankings have been released and we’re proud to share that Duke Anesthesiology is ranked the #3 anesthesiology clinical science department in the nation for NIH funding, securing our reputation as one of the premier research institutions in anesthesiology

This accomplishment is a testament to our hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment. As a department, we have consistently strived for excellence, pushing boundaries in research and advancing the field of anesthesiology. Our collective efforts have not gone unnoticed, evident in our continued presence among the top-ranked institutions in NIH funding. The Duke University School of Medicine continues its leadership in biomedical research; it was awarded more than $551 million in federal funding from the NIH, ranking #7 nationally among academic medical centers, up two spots from last year. These 2023 rankings are tabulated by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.
