I am pleased to announce the release of our 2014 issue of BluePrint. Like last year’s publication, you will be able to read about the incredible work and progress being made in the department through the BluePrint News & Updates website as well as on your smart phone or tablet.

The 21st Annual Academic Evening, held on Tuesday May 14 at the Millennium Hotel, was a wonderful success! Junior level investigators performing research in our department presented sixty-five posters. Presentations of research reports and challenging clinical cases were widely distributed through all training levels and divisions of the department. Congratulations to each of those individuals and teams. It was a very tough year for defining those that stood out and many presentations that did not achieve a prize presented amazing research, fully consistent with the overall goal of advancing anesthesia/critical care and pain management through discovery. Consistent with the format of last year’s Celebration of Research event, this year’s Academic Evening was fully focused on moderated poster presentations in conjunction with a buffet dinner.
Congratulations to the Duke Anesthesiology Racing Team for finishing in first out of 32 teams at this year’s ASA Run for the Warriors 5K Race in Washington D.C.! Under the leadership of Dr. Ryan Fink, Duke surged into first by raising $12,451.00. The money raised will go towards supporting U.S. service members and their families who have been affected by injuries or death to defend our country.
