Four Duke Anesthesiology residents have been inducted into the Robert J. Lefkowitz Society, a prestigious honor for early-career medical researchers at Duke University. Named after Duke’s 2012 Nobel Prize-winning cardiologist Dr. Robert J. Lefkowitz, this highly selective program serves as a critical career accelerator.
Congratulations to Drs. Adrienne Shami (CA-3), Ibtehaj (Janoo) Naqvi (CA-2), Nick Davies (CA-1), and Cynthia Tang (intern).

“Physician scientists are critically important to the future of academic medicine and research, and it is a very challenging path,” says Dr. Jamie Privratsky, associate professor of anesthesiology and director of the Duke Anesthesiology Academic Career Enrichment Scholars (ACES) Program. “Our ACES Program trains the next generation of anesthesiologist physician scientists to fill this important pipeline. The Lefkowitz Society provides a home for MD and MD/PhD postgraduate trainees in the Duke University School of Medicine who are pursuing careers as physician-investigators with a primary focus on basic and translational research. Through both formal and informal mentoring relationships, the society helps members identify research mentors, build investigative teams, and develop the skills needed for a successful academic career.
