We are pleased to announce that Alec Graham has been appointed as Anesthesiology and Perioperative Information Technology Director. Graham was most recently the interim director of IT in our department and brings more than 10 years of experience to his new role.
Graham originally joined the Department of Anesthesiology in November of 2014 as a database analyst; a position he held until September of this year. Before arriving at Duke, he spent eight years of his career at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai as a systems/project analyst and help desk support analyst. Graham received his undergraduate degree in computer science from Fordham University, graduated from Brooklyn Law School, and most recently received his master’s degree in computer science from the New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering (now known as the NYU Tandon School of Engineering).
Graham has extensive experience in database development, successfully managing high-profile enterprise-wide healthcare IT projects, and providing policy guidance on patient privacy and data security. In his new role as the anesthesiology and perioperative IT director, Graham will be responsible for leading a customer-focused team that delivers innovative, efficient, and effective technology systems, services and solutions to advance the teaching, research, and clinical missions of the Department of Anesthesiology. He will play a lead role in the continued development of our department’s perioperative data mart, work with the IT team and department leadership to create state of the art data visualizations, and drive the development of new applications which support and add value to the Department of Anesthesiology.
Graham is originally from Houston, Texas. He and his wife currently call Raleigh home. Please join us in welcoming Alec Graham to his new position which officially begins later this month.
