The Consultation Pain Service will also work in a complementary fashion with Oncology and Palliative Care Services, offering consultation and interventions for cancer patients in need of these services. Interventions offered include advanced pain management procedures such as celiac plexus neurolysis, peripheral neurolysis, targeted drug therapy (intrathecal pump implants), and long-term tunneled epidural or spinal catheters. Additionally, as part of this service expansion, patients with neuropathic pain syndrome from prior cancer treatment will have the opportunity to pursue outpatient treatment in the Duke Pain Medicine pain clinic.
