Oxygen Toxicity Mechanisms

Volunteers Wanted

Group of people hanging out with laptops and tablets.

You may be able to participate in a research study. Healthy non-smoking volunteers between the ages of 18 and 45 years are needed for a research study at Duke University Medical Center’s Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology.

The study will involve diving and training of the breathing muscles during diving. Before the study, subjects must come to the laboratory (4-5 hours) for a physical exam and testing, which includes an exercise test.

Breathing during a dive will then be tested before and after 4 weeks of daily exercise of the breathing muscles and the use of common medications, such as caffeine. Subjects will be paid.

For more information, please email OxToxMechanismsStudy@duke.edu or call Mike Natoli at 919-684-6726.
